NEW MEXICO TROPHY ELK

6 Day Bowhunt 2 on 1 $3,600 + Land Owner Tag

6 Day Bowhunt 1 on 1 $4,600 + Land Owner Tag

Public Land Draw Deadline March 18th

New Mexico trophy archery Elk hunting with our outfitter in the west central part of the state is truly fantastic. He operates in units 13, 15 and 17 which are PRIMITIVE WEAPONS UNITS. Why is this important you may ask? Simply put with no rifle hunting allowed it means we get an older age class of bulls that aren’t being taken in a rifle season. This has also lead to a better bull to cow ratio in most all the units. All this means is MORE BIG BULLS for you to bowhunt. Our outfitter was established in 1999, and takes pride in providing his clients with a quality experience and personal service. The owner grew up in this area and has been hunting in it for more than 25 years. He has specialized in hunting in the primitive weapons only units and has a very lengthy track record with shot opportunities on BIG TROPHY CLASS BULLS.

He and his team have been successfully guiding bowhunters since the outfit first got rolling and they have been producing ever since. THESE GUYS KNOW BOWHUNTING! You can expect to hunt bulls in the 300” - 340”range being fairly common and bulls in the 350” - 375”+ range seen and hunted every year, with a few lucky hunters hanging there tag on one. This is the good ol days of archery Elk hunting. Hunting can be conducted on both public and private land. ALL PRIVATE LAND HUNTS REQUIRE A LAND OWNER TAG. All these managed private ranches have the potential to produce shot opportunities on 340”+ class bulls. The public land hunting is also very good and a hunter can put in for the draw in units 13, 15 and 17. There are no bonus or preference points in New Mexico so everyone has the same shot at drawing the tag basically. You can put in with the outfitter’s license number to slightly increase your odds of drawing in the outfitter pool, but in the high demand units that they operate in you can expect about a 10% - 15% chance in drawing the tag.

That is why most every hunter we book here chooses to purchase a land owner tag so there hunt is guaranteed to take place. Land owner tags vary in price from the land owner and unit they are in. Most years tags range in price from $3,500 - $6,000. This is an additional hunt cost to the hunt package. These carefully managed units by the state and the additional game management of the ranchers and our outfitter produce something very special for the discriminating bowhunter. When the rut kicks into gear (usually around the second and third week of September) it is a sight to behold.

These hunts are fully guided by true professionals who love Elk hunting and are very good at it. Whether 2 on 1 or 1 on 1 you will be in some of the absolute best Elk hunting in the state of New Mexico. The methods they use are ambushing and cow talking along with bugling. You will hunt in the mornings and evenings, perhaps all day if you are on a bruiser and close to sealing the deal. Water is a premium in this dry climate so it’s possible you will spend a lot of time in the mid day and evenings sitting in tree stands or ground blinds over looking water holes waiting for a shot opportunity. All archery hunters should be comfortable at shots up to 50 yards.

Hunting New Mexico has never been better! If you’ve never hunted New Mexico, you are in for the hunt of a lifetime. Elk Hunting in New Mexico is an experience you won’t want to miss out on. New Mexico’s public lands are managed for their Big Game just like the private ranches. We truly have an Elk haven here in New Mexico. If you look at the record books, these units hold a big portion of the records for New Mexico. That alone speaks for itself.

Hunts are a full 6 days and include a comfy and cozy lodge and fantastic hearty meals. At the end of a long day chasing bugling bulls you will eat well and share in the stories being swapped around the dinner table. Spots are very limited and many clients are long time repeat clients, so you will want to get in on this hunt early…perhaps even a year in advance if possible to secure your spot. The draw deadline is March 18th so we recommend you contact us the winter before to get on the books and prepare for the draw if you choose to hunt public. The private land hunts go even quicker so please contact us early enough to secure a tag for you as they don’t last long when made available. If you want to hunt the public ground which is also very good please keep in mind that the draw deadline is March 18th.

New Mexico is known as the land of enchantment and when you encounter these BIG BOYS DURING THE RUT you will understand why. We are very fortunate to work with this incredibly hard working outfitter who we have been representing for over a decade now and we look forward to many more successful years to come for our clients. So grab your bow and get ready to go on this one of a kind Bow and Arrow Adventure. We will see ya there!
