Montana and it’s BIG SKY COUNTRY offer very good Mule Deer hunting and this specific outfitter operates in one of the very best areas in all of Southeastern Montana. This part of Montana is well known for it’s Mule Deer hunting and the population on these managed ranches is truly fantastic. You can expect to see numerous bucks throughout your week of bowhunting as you spend time out in the field looking for that shooter buck. We have been representing this outfitter for many years now and have had many satisfied clients pass through his camp over the years and leave with a record book trophy and taxidermy bill.

True to form this outfit is run by an accomplished bowhunter who also has several talented bowhunting guides on staff. In short THESE GUYS KNOW HOW TO BOWHUNT MULE DEER! Much of the terrain is tailor made for the bowhunter to slip in and sneak up on a feeding or bedded buck. With a mix of canyon, draws, creek bottom, prairie and agriculture you will see plenty of Deer, and it’s just a matter of time until the stalk is on. Good binoculars are essential for a spot and stalk hunt like this as well as a good range finder. Attempt to be in the best shape possible to hike and put in long hours in the field to up your chance for success.

Our outfitter has been outfitting this part of Montana since the early 2000’s and with the strict management practices he and his staff have in place they continue to provide bowhunters a very high shot opportunity rate on 145” - 170” P&Y type of bucks every year with some lucky hunters getting a crack at even bigger. This is an action packed hunt due to the healthy deer herd. You can expect to be in Mule Deer most days and seeing 50 - 100 deer with about 10 - 15 being bucks. Shot’s can be top pin but that doesn’t happen very often. Be prepared to shoot from 40 - 60 yards if at all possible. Make sure you are putting in your time at the range to prepare for those types of distances. Hunting is primarily a mix of spot and stalk, ground blind and tree stand sets.

Bowhunts are for 5 full days and can be combined with Antelope which there are plenty of in this game rich part of Montana. It is entirely possible to arrow both a P&Y class Mule Deer and Pronghorn in the same hunt with hard work and patience along with a little help from lady luck. Every year our outfitter has some clients pull this off. You will stay in comfortable ranch lodging and eat great meals to fill you up for the next days hunt. The guides are great and will work hard to do everything they can to give you that precious shot opportunity…then it’s all up to you. Archery season is a little longer in Montana which is always a bonus so you get to hunt from the first week of September to mid October. All Transportation, lodging and meals are provided while on your hunt. Remember that the deadline to apply for these Deer tags is March 15th.
