This unique Bowhunting Outfitter is in an impressive part of Alberta and knows how to get clients in tight to TROPHY BLACK BEARS.
Northern Alberta is defined by the Boreal Forest biome, and is home to the highest densities of Black Bear in North America. For this reason, Alberta offers hunters the opportunity to harvest two Black Bears in most WMU’s. Thousands of hectares of old-growth mixed Boreal forest laced with valleys, waterways with cascading beaver ponds, muskeg lowlands, aspen ridges, and every thing in between offers prime habitat for Big Bears. With excellent access by way of oil and gas lease roads, cut-lines, Right-of-Ways, and logging clear-cuts, spot and stalk hunting opportunities are abundant. With minimal hunting pressure, it is common to see several Bears each day with bow hunters often experiencing multiple opportunities to sneak in to archery range of a BIG BRUIN.
This operation is owned and operated by a husband and wife team, and both are hardcore, driven and accomplished bowhunters themselves. In fact, Kevin is a long-time bow hunting writer and columnist for Outdoor Canada magazine.
With lush spring clover growth attracting bears to open areas and south-facing slopes in May and early June, most of their bow hunts are run during the spring season, with a few exceptions offered during the fall when standing oat fields offer good opportunities in September and early October. Shot opportunities vary, but with some effort, it is common for bow hunters to fill one, or both of their tags, during a 6-day hunt if desired. These professional bowhunting guides are often proactive in using predator calls to attract Bears as well.
Most bow hunters will see 100% shot opportunity on 6-foot 200 lb. to 7-foot plus 300 plus lb. black phase bears, with some passing the 400 lb. body weight as well. We also have variable color-phase Bears in our area, ranging from cinnamon to blonde-phase.
Guests stay in a hotel, unless wall tent camp accommodations are preferred, and all meals are provided along with transport to and from the Edmonton International Airport (YEG). All hunts are fully-guided, 2 guests per 1 guide unless otherwise arranged.
