Alaska Spot & Stalk Trophy Black Bear Hunts are truly spectacular with this small family run operation in GMU 3 located in Southeast Alaska. This outfitter runs a well organized and very professional operation. He is a lifelong dedicated bowhunter with numerous trophies taken using archery tackle to his credit. We truly hit pay dirt with this operation, as it has resulted in another phenomenal option for our clients wanting to focus on LARGE TROPHY BLACK BEARS and not hunting over bait. Our outfitter knows how to get clients close to the giant Black Bears that call this part of Southeast Alaska home. This outfitter is an Alaskan Master Guide with 25 years of guiding experience in his home state. He takes great pride in sharing his knowledge of the beautiful Alaskan wilderness with his clients and offers premier hunting and trapping opportunities in this gorgeous region.
Hunters fly into Petersburg, Alaska where you will be greeted by the outfitter or his staff and taken to base camp to prepare for your voyage out to the hunting grounds. The majority of his TROPHY BLACK BEAR HUNTS take place on Kupreanof and Mitkof Islands in Game Management Unit 3. This area is well known for producing excellent Black Bears with great hides and large skulls to boot. This large area will take your breath away as you cruise the coastline looking for that big old bruin. Perhaps drop a crap pot or two for the evenings dinner and then it’s off to shore on a stalk for one of the P&Y or B&C class Black Bears that inhabit these island areas. THE BLACK BEAR POPULATION IS VERY HIGH AND THE TROPHY QUALITY IS EXCELLENT IN THE AREA OUR OUTFITTER HUNTS. You will be able to look over several Bears and be selective. Bears in the 6 ½ to 8 foot range with 18 to 21 inch skulls can be expected.
On the spring hunts you will cruise the coastline in a 17' aluminum skiff glassing for that BIG PUMPKIN HEADED BLACK BEAR. Once a trophy Bear is sighted we try to determine size and quality, then go to the beach and begin a stalk.
During the fall hunts the bears are concentrated on salmon streams. On these hunts you can spend lot’s of time hunting on the streams looking for feeding Black Bears. We get some very exciting close range action on this hunt for our clients, which will surely get your adrenaline pumping. Both hunts are very successful. The spring hunts are less strenuous than the fall hunts because there is less walking involved.
With this being a coastal based hunt in Alaska you will be lodging out on the open sea. These hunts are conducted from a 43' vessel. This beautiful boat sleeps four people comfortably. It has a fully equipped galley and a bathroom with a shower. With the 8kw gen-set, our clients have all the modern conveniences of home. Being boat-based allows us to have an extremely comfortable and mobile base to hunt from. These TROPHY BLACK BEAR hunts can be customized to meet any of your needs. On the fall hunts it is always fun to pursue Sea Ducks in their winter plumage. Also, there is a large population of Wolves in Southeast Alaska. The opportunity to take a Wolf is very high on all of these hunts.
We want to invite you to come on up to Southeast Alaska on this incredible spot & stalk opportunity to hunt the MONSTER BLACK BEARS of this unique region. There is something truly adventurous about stalking the Bears on these beaches and coastline. Shots can be top pin and in your lap but also could be 40+ yards depending on the given situation. Spots are very limited as this is a small custom operation where the outfitter is also the guide.
