7 Day Mountain Goat: August - December / 1 on 1 - $15,000
Alaska Spot & Stalk Trophy Mountain Goat Hunts are an incredible opportunity for the serious bowhunter who is looking to hunt one of the most beautiful trophies in the coastal mountains of Alaska. The outfitter we have partnered with has a lengthy background with bowhunters and is a very accomplished bowmen himself. ALASKA’S TROPHY MOUNTAIN GOATS inhabit areas and terrain that are harsh and unforgiving. Much time and energy is needed to successfully negotiate the rough and mountainous areas these Goat’s call home. That’s why the expertise and experience of our outfitter makes such a huge difference. Having the right outfitter who knows how to bowhunt is every bit as important as the area he or she hunt’s as well as trophy quality. Luckily for you…our guy has it all. This small personally run operation will have you bowhunting 1 on 1 with the outfitter himself. This level of personal attention to detail and knowledge of the region provides everything you need to get into this amazing Mountain Goat area of Southeast Alaska.
This part of Alaska is well known for it’s Mountain Goat population and consistently produces trophy Billy’s from 9 - 9 3/4“, with an OLD HEAVY HORNED 10” BILLY not out of the question if a hunter is willing to let good Goats walk to hunt for a great one. It’s not uncommon to see multiple Billy’s in a days hunt as there are plenty of good Goats in this specific system. The hardest part of Mountain Goat hunting anywhere is getting up to them. It’s the same with this hunt for sure. Southeast Alaska is an excellent destination for trophy Mountain Goats. These Mountain Goat hunts are conducted high up in the alpine region of the Coastal Mountain Range. You will either fly into a remote alpine lake or start your hunt from the river below and trek up the mountain. These are backpack hunts where you and your guide will be staying in tent camps. THIS IS A VERY PHYSICAL HUNT AND YOU WILL NEED TO BE BOTH MENTALLY AND PHYSICALLY PREPARED FOR IT. The August and early September hunts are great opportunities for bow hunters.
With 25+ years of guiding experience in the area that this outfitter lives and operates in you can rest assured that you will be hunting with one of the very best in the business. The alpine scenery is a beautiful site to behold and pursuing the TROPHY BILLY’S that live there is an adventure unlike any other. Most all Mountain Goat hunting takes place with gaining elevation and coming in on the goats from above as these critters are very wary about movement from below. Once a good trophy is spotted then the stalk begins. Stalks can be long so have patience as it will come together. A BIG OLD MOUNTAIN GOAT can weigh close to 400 lbs and makes a jaw dropping addition to any trophy room and, taking one is quite an accomplishment (especially with stick and string).
This unique area is quite large and gives the outfitter flexibility to hunt different areas as he rotates them from year to year. Combine this with excellent trophy potential and high Goat numbers and the only ingredient that is missing is YOU. Also please keep the price point in mind as YOU WILL NOT FIND A HUNT WITH THIS HIGH OF QUALITY AND SUCCESS RATE MANY PLACES. Weather can always rear it’s ugly head in Alaska so be prepared for rain, fog or cloud cover to possibly sneak in on you. Having the best equipment possible is always a key component on any mountain hunt. Hunts are for 7 days with the exception of the frigid late season boat based hunts in December. The weather will be incredibly cold yes…but the hair on these Billy’s will be worth all the challenges as their coats will be gorgeous.
The Mountain Goat is a truly tremendous trophy. The areas they inhabit are incredibly challenging to hunt in and the challenges can be many. Your physical and mental toughness will be tested and your hunting and stalking skills put to the test. HAVING THE RIGHT OUTFITTER AND GUIDE IS CRITICAL TO SUCCESS. Luckily we have an excellent outfitter who excels at Goat hunting. This for most people is a once in a lifetime adventure. Choose wisely my friend.
We look forward to visiting with you regarding this action packed, breath taking Bow and Arrow Adventure.
