Bowhunting Northern Alberta for Trophy Canadian Moose continues to be a high opportunity and highly successful bowhunting destination. You will be bowhunting along the famed Athabasca River and the surrounding Boreal Forest. This area has an impressive Canadian Moose population along with very good trophy quality. As you hit the woods in search of rutting Bull Moose you will be eagerly anticipating the call of a Mature Bull as he responds to you guides love sick calls. This area is fairly remote and provides little access so Bulls get big out here. Hunting pressure is light as well which makes this hunt very attractive.

We are very fortunate to add this exceptional outfitter to our Alberta profile as he is an AVID BOWHUNTER who has taken numerous trophies with stick and string himself and is intimately familiar with this area he has called home for the last 20 years. His guides are also talented with bowhunters and understand and appreciate the challenges of seeing a well placed arrow hit the lungs of a BIG MATURE BULL. These folks can get you in close for the shot, the rest is up to you!! You can expect to encounter Bull Moose in the 35″ – 50″ range with Bulls better then 50″ encountered most years. This area definitely produces it’s share of P&Y class Canadian Moose.

Bowhunts for these amazing animals usually take place the last part of September through the first couple of weeks in October. This will be the rut and is PRIME TIME for you to be in the Athabasca Watershed pursuing these elusive trophies. When weather permits and conditions are good you can expect to encounter Moose most every day and some times multiple Bulls in a single day. This unique area definitely ups the odds of you getting your shot opportunity at a good Bull. Expect lots of hiking in wet conditions and weather extremes from late heat waves in the 80’s to a cold snapping weather system in the 20’s. Also you can plan on encountering some potential rain so have some good rain gear ready to go in your pack.
