Canadian Moose

Bowhunting for Canadian Moose is an exciting Bow and Arrow Adventure any bowhunter can enjoy. The Canadian Moose in North America is basically recognized throughout Canada. Approximately 1 million moose in 9 provinces. Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Newfoundland and Labrador, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Quebec and Saskatchewan. Moose are the largest member of the deer family. Moose are striking in appearance because of their towering size, black color, long legs, pendulous muzzle, and dangling hairy dewlap (called a bell) and the IMMENSE, WIDE, FLAT ANTLERS OF OLD MATURE BULLS.

The overall Moose population is very healthy through out much of Canada, and our many years of experience and research, allows us to put our bowhunters in positions for shot opportunities on good bulls. Although we’ve found that a good number of hunters just want a bull Moose with a bow, the potential for the bigger and older bulls is very high, as we consistently tally sightings on some great bulls in the mid to high 40” inch category, along with some into the 50”s and believe it or not approaching the 60″ mark and beyond hunting around the Yukon border in extreme Northern B.C.

Bowhunting tactics for TRUE TROPHY CANADIAN MOOSE during the rutting season center around ‘calling’ – or more specifically, walking into areas to set up and wait out ‘calls’. You may walk many miles each hunt day, and can also sit many hours to wait out located bulls in an effort to work a bull into a shot position for you. On some occasions we get you off the ground for an extended wait of a few hours in a treestand setup, to get a tentative bull under you for a shot opportunity. These hunts have proven to be ultra exciting, and very interactive hunts for our bowhunters.

The P&Y minimum for Canadian Moose is 135″ and the B&C minimum is 185″. When it comes to choosing where to spend your hard earned money for a true TROPHY BULL there are a few things to consider.

1. Choose a location where trophy bulls actually exist and the population is healthy. This ALMOST ALWAYS occurs in the more remote areas of Canada and will involve some type of fly in, hike in or boat in situation. In many situations this will increase the price of the hunt but it will also increase the likelihood of you encountering the Bull of your dreams as well.

2. Realistic trophy potential!! A 40″ mature BULL MOOSE for the Canadian subspecies is a very respectable trophy in many areas. If you know that you are only interested in hunting for a 50″ or better Bull your options shrink drastically as you will be looking at the Northern parts of British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. It is possible to encounter a Bull above 50″ in other provinces as well but it is not the norm. You need to know that going into your research.

3. Shoot the right equipment!! Moose are HUGE ANIMALS and can weigh up to 1,200 pounds!! Once you get one on the ground you will see for yourself. Make certain that you are shooting at least 60 lbs or more if possible, with a heavier arrow and super sharp and well made broadhead. We do NOT recommend expandable’s for Moose. Keep in mind that arrow placement is everything. DON’T RUSH YOUR SHOT!!

No matter what type of ARCHERY MOOSE HUNT you are looking for we are confident that we can organize and provide you the right experience. From remote fly in hunts to a boat based hunt along rivers and lakes or BOWHUNTING THE ROCK (Newfoundland) we can see to it that you are bowhunting with the very best in the business that can get you into BOW RANGE of a mature Canadian Bull Moose. Let our experience work for you in pursuing the Canadian trophy you are hoping to encounter. We look forward to earning your business and helping you accomplish this amazing Bow and Arrow Adventure!!
