South Dakota Trophy Antelope Bowhunts

South Dakota archery Antelope hunts with our outfitter have all the makings of that fast paced Western Pronghorn hunt you have been looking for. With a very stable Antelope population with less pressure than some other Western States you can understand why South Dakota is growing in popularity for it’s trophy Antelope. In the past South Dakota was hardly mentioned in an Antelope conversation and flew under the radar so to speak. Now with more and more record book qualifying goats harvested every year, many folks are now aware of the great potential that South Dakota can offer the trophy Antelope hunter. Our outfitter has accumulated over 30,000 PRIVATE acres for his clients to pursue these speed goats on. All are intensely managed and have the potential to provide multiple opportunities on P&Y class Antelope with B&C potential always a possibility.

Antelope hunting is one of our outfitters favorite bowhunts. Something every bowhunting enthusiast should get a chance to experience. From the wide open grass lands in which these Antelope call home to their unique defense mechanisms, Antelope present bowhunters with a very unique and appealing set of challenges seldom seen with other big game species. Freely roaming herds of 20 – 100 Pronghorn will constantly catch your eye along the hillsides, grasslands and alfalfa fields  our outfitter has leased. With this much ground available you can look over one herd and if you don’t see what you like it’s over the hill to glass the next herd. Distance can be deceiving for stalking opportunities with stick and string but with a 100% shot opportunity most years you can be certain that your experienced bowhunting guide is up to the task.

Previously harvested Antelope have averaged 14 1/2 ” to bucks above the 17 “ mark with an average score of approximately 72 “. From Getting out into the field to pursue your trophy to locating bucks and closing the deal, South Dakota Antelope bowhunting is a true bow and Arrow adventure in itself. If you haven’t pursued Antelope yet or you have hunted them several times already, we are certain that South Dakota will deliver some exciting bowhunting action on trophy class bucks.

You will have the unique opportunity to piece together with your guide how you would like to approach your bowhunt for these speedy devils. They set up blinds over water tanks and common Antelope crossings and wait these mature bucks out or you can opt for spot and stalk which is always exciting. One of our outfitters specialties is decoying trophy class goats into a bowhunters lap. Believe it or not this is actually our outfitters preferred method if he has a client who is up for some adrenaline pumping action. Goats can come in hard and vast with shot opportunities being very close so you must be ready to seal the deal. Either way you prefer you can bank on having lot’s of fun and enjoying your bowhunt with our outfitter. These unique challenges that make big Antelope so difficult to spot and stalk via stick and string are what make it so rewarding.

With such a large number of Antelope inhabiting these ranches and throughout the great State of South Dakota, getting a license is 100% guaranteed and are readily available with no draw. South Dakota’s archery Antelope season usually kicks off around the third week of August each year. These bowhunts are 4 full days and include meals and lodging along with a professional bowhunting guide. Parents and grandparents alike can introduce a youngster to this great sport of bowhunting Antelope also. This is a great introductory hunt as the action is constant with Antelope often seen in multiple directions. No slow time hunting means lot’s of fun for our younger generation too. This guided Antelope bowhunt has been designed to give the archer the best opportunity to harvest a true trophy class buck.

We would like to discuss the potential for you to come on out to South Dakota and see for yourself the great Pronghorn hunting that this State has to offer.
